libvcs - abstraction layer for vcs
a repo is an object representation of a vcs repository. it may or may not be checked out/cloned yet.
In [1]: from libvcs.shortcuts import create_repo_from_pip_url, create_repo
In [2]: r = create_repo(

vcs='git',
repo_dir='/tmp/repo')
# or via pip-style URL
In [2]: r = create_repo_from_pip_url(
